Background
The advent of energy efficient ‘smart buildings’, advances in the development of electrically powered vehicles and the continued development of renewable energy sources such as geo-thermal and wind and solar power generation to shift the supply from carbon based sources are major factors that will ultimately shape the future of energy supply and consumption.

We are constantly looking at ways in which we can improve how our networks operate. As part of that programme of continual improvement, we have launched the TVV project, supported by Ofgem’s Low Carbon Networks Fund, which aims to solve a number of the challenges the local electricity network are likely to face as the UK moves into a low carbon economy.
