Health and Life Sciences

in the Thames Valley

Tasked with providing an informed contribution to the Life Sciences Sector Deal 2 through an invitation by Central Government, the Chamber established a business-led Health and Life Sciences Working Group (HLSWG).  We utilise this opportunity as the only region-wide sector group, bringing together industry leaders from global corporates, SME’s, spinouts and recently established inward investors to ensure that the Thames Valley Health and Life Sciences Community is heard and represented into Governments Life Sciences Vision.

Our most recent HLSWG took place on Wednesday 15th May and you can view the agenda here.

Our latest work includes discussion on how best the HLS community can best respond to the opportunities and ‘Missions’ contained within the Vision, as well as developing a Life Sciences Skills Project Proposal which will consider a “State of Possible” report for the Thames Valley Health and Life Sciences sector (focused on skills) and an industry-led Thames Valley Life Science Micro-Credential Framework.  Current developments include discussions with the Office for Life Sciences and Department for Education.

The HLSWG are currently developing a HLS skills project which will embed within the Local Skills Development Plans for Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
