Health and Life Sciences

in the Thames Valley

The Chamber hosts the only region-wide, curated industry working group for the health and life sciences (HLS) sector.  We bring together industry leaders from global corporates, SMEs and spin-outs; academics and researchers; NHS hospital trusts and government representatives.

Inspired by the call from the Office for Life Sciences to bring together the industry cluster located across the region, our ambition remains to foster collaboration, information and knowledge exchange and advance the Thames Valley’s global reputation for HLS.  The continued importance, and value, of our working group is recognised by government in the invitation we receive to comment on government policy (most recently the Industrial Strategy white paper) and through our lobbying work in representing the business interests of the sector.

Please note that this working group is invitation only.  Please contact the Business Representation & Policy team for more information.

Manifesto for investment, health and growth in the Thames Valley

In partnership with James Cowper Kreston and Green Park, our Manifesto for Investment, Health and Growth, is an initiative designed to advance the Thames Valley region to ensure its global reputation as a world leader in the field of Health and Life Sciences (HLS).

Our latest work includes discussion on how best the HLS community can best respond to the opportunities and ‘Missions’ contained within the Vision, as well as developing a Life Sciences Skills Project Proposal which will consider a “State of Possible” report for the Thames Valley Health and Life Sciences sector (focused on skills) and an industry-led Thames Valley Life Science Micro-Credential Framework.  Current developments include discussions with the Office for Life Sciences and Department for Education.

The HLSWG are currently developing a HLS skills project which will embed within the Local Skills Development Plans for Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
