Purpose and Ambition
The purpose of the group is to help advance the Thames Valley’s global reputation as a business location of choice, for life sciences companies. Our ambition is to champion the Thames Valley’s life sciences strength and articulate the capacity of the region to provide the solutions and effectively deliver government growth targets outlined in the Industrial Strategy and 10-year Health Plan for England. We work to inform life sciences policy that informs a more effective legislative regulatory framework that delivers commercial benefit and helps shape the plans that can secure the thriving, green, healthier future we want for a truly competitive Thames Valley.

Our working group champions the Thames Valley life sciences sector and continues to identify and discuss those issues most affecting business. As one of the UK’s leading life sciences clusters, we showcase the region and present why the Thames Valley can deliver the ambitions for economic growth, innovation, health improvement, and NHS reform our government is aiming to deliver.
As we develop our programme for 2027, we are actively considering a range of themes and inviting our Chamber members to help shape our future programme. Included, is consideration of industry supply chain resilience, what next – the delivery of the Life Sciences Sector Plan, NHS Ten-Year Plan and Women’s Health Strategy; healthcare procurement; healthcare prevention and community care; finance; artificial intelligence and emerging technologies (inc. Healthtech), skills development, innovation acceleration, and employee health and wellbeing.
