Meet our members
All members of the Chamber have their business details listed in the on-line Membership Directory, complete with logo, image, business description and website link. Higher tiers of membership can also include additional links, longer business descriptions and a video. Business Alliance members have added exposure through showcasing their logo on the home page of the Chamber website.

We want to hear from you
The Chamber’s quarterly magazine strikes a balance between providing high quality informative articles, business leader interviews and region news. Chamber members receive a free subscription to the magazine and a discount on advertising.

Members can submit news stories and articles both to Business Voice, which has a twice- yearly SME supplement and to the news section of the website, all through the Members Zone.

We welcome market and sector-based case studies and thought leadership pieces from our Lead and Business Alliance members, who also have the opportunity to sponsor individual sector/market pages on our Inward Investment specific website.

Members can also subscribe to our suite of e-newsletters, each individually covering areas such as Events, Training, International Trade, Policy and Inward Investment.

Quarterly Economic Survey (QES)
Every quarter we survey our members to gain invaluable insight into the views of the Thames Valley business community, with results feeding directly into the British Chambers of Commerce QES.

As Britain’s biggest and longest-running private business survey it has provided data since 1989.  A leading indicator, the survey often picks up big changes in the economy long before other surveys or official statistics. It is the first economic indicator of the quarter, published in advance of official figures and other private surveys and consistently mirrors trends in official data. For this reason, the survey is closely watched by policymakers such as the Treasury, the Bank of England, the Office of Budget Responsibility, the EU Commission and the IMF.

 

Local Policy and Strategic Policy Priorities
The Chamber’s policy team campaigns regionally and nationally on behalf of businesses of all sizes, lobbying, making representation and exerting powerful influence on government with the aim of creating a more favourable business environment.

Working with key stakeholders across the Thames Valley region, each of our seven individual Local Chamber Advisory Groups have their own local policy priority statements, which have been developed by the Groups in consultation with their members. These documents reflect the policy issues affecting the respective areas and the focus for the Local Chamber Advisory Groups in working to help address and resolve them.

Local Chamber Advisory Groups (LCAG’s)
The Local Chamber Advisory Groups are the local representative bodies of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, providing a forum for the elected members to meet. The aim to help shape and frame the Chamber’s local policy priorities, reviewing the actions and objectives linked to delivering these priorities.

Providing an active, positive voice for business into the community where they operate and serve, LCAG’s operate in the seven Chamber areas.

 

British Chamber of Commerce Expert Panels
These Expert Panels guide the formulation of BCC policy, in relation to their areas of expertise and inform representation into Government, key policy decision makers and industry organisations. They ensure that the BCC has the specialist input required to represent the interests of Accredited Chambers of Commerce and their member companies authentically.

Panel members provide expert knowledge in their field and have a good understanding of the impact of policy in their Chamber’s region. Lead and Business Alliance members can be nominated to the panel by TVCC and are appointed to the BCC.

British Chambers of Commerce Policy Development and Decision Making
The British Chambers of Commerce has high-profile policy and lobbying team, that represents the interests of members in Westminster, Whitehall and Brussels. Working together with the Chamber Network, the BCC engages with decision-makers to influence policy, ensuring the interests of businesses are represented. This work is supported by a published range of publications and reports across key policy areas.

Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce is a major issuer of International Trade documentation in the United Kingdom. Whether you require documents certified, legalised, require a notary or an apostile by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) we can help.

Our Team

China Desk
The China Desk helps member companies with market entry, contract negotiation, business development and partnership facilitation and is supported with Chinese trade authorities, Chambers and trade associations and both state-owned and private companies. A special relationship has built with the leading economic power house in China – Guangdong Province and its 21 cities.

Japan Desk
The Japan Desk works with member UK businesses helping identify partnerships and strategy agreements as well as building stronger working relationships with those wanting to establish companies or work in the Japanese market. With many UK companies’ showing a strong interest in dealing with Japan for exporting, importing and collaborative partnerships, ongoing opportunities are readily available.

Monetary Policy Report Briefing
The Bank of England’s Agency for Central Southern England visits the Thames Valley on a quarterly basis, to gather information directly from local business leaders. It is this data, together with equivalent data from the 11 other regional agents, that is fed back to the MPC in order that they can make a decision on the position of interest rates. The events take place one week after the Inflation Report has been published and the Bank’s agent summarises the report and takes questions from the delegates.

Political Working Lunches
Delegates will gain a deeper understanding of the structure and workings of the Westminster (UK) or Brussels (Europe) political world, learning how the political landscape can help with business issues. A Thames Valley based Member of Parliament or South East Member of the European Parliament is invited to speak at each event so it is an ideal opportunity to hear from political influencers.

 

 

Business Alliance Dinners
Exclusively for Business Alliance members, this programme of dinner events allows members not only the opportunity to engage with each other on a regular basis, but with key business leaders.

Windsor Debates
The Windsor Debates series, which is now in its 14th year, is a flagship programme for Business Alliance members. Taking place in exclusive environment of St George’s House, in the grounds of Windsor Castle, the Debates address global, modern agenda issues and are Business Alliance driven. High level networking and discussion are provided under Chatham House rule, and the insights gained are of particular benefit to senior executives positioned to influence the strategies of major companies.

Annual Conference
