Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce (TVCC) has welcomed the government publication of its refreshed Women’s Health Strategy and will be discussing the contents, plans and ambitions at the next scheduled Health and Life Sciences working group (HLSWG) in June.
Government said that “Women’s voices to be at the heart of renewed health strategy” indicating that:
- Women’s experiences will be put at the centre of care across the healthcare system, ensuring patient’s voices are listened to and acted upon
- Women will be listened to and acted upon, including exploring ways in which women’s feedback can be directly linked to provider funding and targeted improvements
- Women will be directed to the right professional first time through a single referral point.
- A new standard of care will be produced to ensure women are offered appropriate and effective pain relief for invasive procedures.
Yuan Yang, MP for Earley and Woodley said:
Too often, women are ignored or dismissed at the clinic, even when they have serious symptoms or valid healthcare concerns. This strategy will stop women falling through the cracks in our healthcare system by putting them at the centre of delivering effective care.
Yuan Yang is speaking at the TVCC’s Quarterly Economic Survey report briefing on Friday 17th April.
Showcasing Women’s Health – Time to Listen. Time to Act at its last meeting, attendees welcomed plans for the TVCC’s HLSWG to host a dedicated webinar, following the publication of the Strategy, to discuss the key points and identify where Thames Valley business feels is has most to contribute to working with the NHS and region’s key stakeholder. This webinar will include speakers from James Cowper Kreston (JCK), Health Innovation Network Oxford and Thames Valley and ABHI.
Sue Staunton, Partner and Head of Life Sciences at JCK and Chair of the HLWSG, said:
Our working group is deliberately action-led and business-driven. Women’s health is one of several priorities where the Thames Valley has the capability to lead, showcase good practice and drive collaborative, commercially driven, solutions that can support the delivery of the ambition government has set-out in its NHS 10-Year Plan. The HLSWG is speaking for the region’s life sciences business community. We have a proven track record and a growing reputation, lobbying government to champion improved patient care and outcomes; and driving policy reform
The Chamber is proud to host the Thames Valley’s only region-wide, curated, life sciences working group.
This industry-led group serves as a vital platform for collaboration, convening global corporates, innovative SMEs, academic institutions and educational establishments, NHS trusts, government stakeholders, professional bodies and pre-eminent thought leaders. Please contact the Business Representation & Policy team to register your interest in attending.
