Berkshire Community Foundation has launched its Surviving Winter Appeal, aimed at supporting charities and local voluntary groups experiencing financial hardship in uncertain and worrying times.Â
This winter, many vulnerable people across Berkshire will be adversely affected by increasing energy costs and the rising cost of living. Older people, people with disabilities, people with life-limiting conditions and low-income families will rely more than ever on local charities and voluntary groups for their health and well- being.
Donations to the appeal from businesses, their staff and private individuals will enable the community foundation to target small local charities and voluntary groups who work tirelessly to ensure the most vulnerable citizens receive the support they need.

Jon Yates, CEO of Berkshire Community Foundation, says “We are working hard to support vulnerable people this winter by targeting existing funds and any money we raise through this appeal to those community groups who provide vital services to vulnerable people, to ensure that they have the resources they need to continue to deliver in these times of spiralling costs. We have already received requests for support from food banks, domestic abuse refuges, mental health support charities, day centres for older people and people with disabilities and a range of other pressing causes.
We are aiming to support as many disadvantaged people across Berkshire as we can, as we face the most challenging winter in recent years. We greatly appreciate any support we receive and are asking people to share the appeal with others.”
