The UK’s participation at World Expo 2025
The UK has confirmed it will be one of the 150 nations participating in the World Expo, Osaka 2025. The UK Pavilion will be situated in the “Saving Lives” district of the Expo site, with the theme “See Things Differently, Tomorrow & Today”
The UK government aims to achieve the following strategic objectives through its participation:
- Increase positive perceptions of the UK in Japan and globally
- Develop collaborative relationships with other nations in the Asia Pacific region and globally
- Support Key UK international policy priorities
- Boost UK business in Japan.
- Increase the propensity of people to study in the UK.
- Increase visitors to the UK
The UK and Japan are committed to strengthening their global strategic partnership for the 21st century, as outlined in the Hiroshima Accord signed by the two leaders in May 2023. The Accord sets out a shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region, a rules-based international order, a green recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, and a deeper cultural and people-to-people exchange.
