During this time the management team at the Watermill have made every effort to encourage us to become part of the Watermill family which has given us the opportunity to make a contribution, not only to the theatrical production ‘on the night’, but to their invaluable educational work in schools, community centres and the wider cultural life of Newbury and the surrounding area. The Watermill Theatre has long had a national profile and reputation as a centre of excellence for artistic endeavour which we are proud to support and wish them every success in their exciting new production of Pinocchio.”
The Watermill also welcomes a new partner – Damson, a new restaurant in Winterbourne that opened in September 2023, as production sponsor of The King’s Speech. Henry Kremer Ireson and his team, formerly of Henry & Joe’s, have transformed the old Winterbourne Arms into a modern, stylish restaurant with a nod to its charming past as a country pub. Damson offers flavour led, refined dining with attentive and personalised service – a dining experience to remember.
Henry Kremer Ireson, Owner & Chef at Damson said:
“We are truly honoured to collaborate with the Watermill, an institution that has been a cornerstone of Newbury for many years. Our shared ethos for creating exceptional experiences, nurturing talent, and celebrating creative freedom make this collaboration a natural fit. We are thrilled to work alongside them and look forward to supporting their continued growth and success.“
Claire Murray, Executive Director at the Watermill Theatre commented:
“We are thrilled to be working with both our long-term partner Horsey Lightly, and also new supporter Damson. These corporate partnerships are incredibly important to the Watermill – both in terms of providing financial support for our artistic programme and valuable outreach work, but also in terms of strengthening our relationships with the wider community. We enjoy creating meaningful, mutually beneficial relationships with local businesses who share our values, supporting each other to achieve our goals and make a difference to people’s lives.”
