TVCC announce Charity of the Year

Employees at Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce are delighted to announce that they have selected Helen & Douglas House to support as their ‘Charity of the Year’ in 2023.

Helen & Douglas House, based in Oxfordshire came out top of a vote by the Chambers 42 staff across the Thames Valley.  The hospice helps local families cope with the challenges of looking after a terminally ill child who will die prematurely.

Helen & Douglas House is a warm, homely place for local children living with life-limiting and terminal conditions, and their families. Providing round-the-clock loving care in a comforting environment, the hospice is filled with laughter, whilst also being a peaceful place where families can create happy memories in their last days, weeks, months or years together.

Paul Britton, CEO at Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce said “We are inspired to hear of the amazing work carried out by the charities across the Thames Valley.  As part of consultations before the festive break about what’s most important to our organisation and our values, staff expressed the wish to launch a Charity of the Year Programme for 2023.

“We are delighted to support Helen & Douglas House, a very worthwhile and deserving charity and we look forward to supporting them through our staff activities and raising some much-needed funds throughout 2023.”

Nardia Bissmire, Partnerships Manager at Helen & Douglas House said “We are delighted to have been chosen as a Charity of the Year 2023 by Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The money raised will make a huge difference to local families living in the Thames Valley providing vital care for them at our hospice, at home or in hospital. We’d like to thank the Chamber for giving us this wonderful opportunity to increase awareness of our charity and raise money to help more local families.”
