Henley business and Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce member, European Consumer Claims (ECC) celebrate most successful ever year as December victories bring 2022 to a buoyant close
Traditionally the Yuletide holidays are a quieter period for timeshare claims businesses. Practical financial planning can sometimes take a back seat as we pay out for parties, gifts, entertainment and general (thoroughly worthwhile) overindulgence. This wasn’t the case for ECC.
“We had a very busy December,” says Andrew Cooper, CEO of ECC. “Our associated legal team, M1 Legal, achieved £335,000 worth of compensation awards, and 24 separate victories for our clients.
One Chelmsford family received news that they had been won (an extremely welcome) £50,152 for their mis-sold fractional timeshare ownership.
2022: a runaway success
In 2022, M1 won compensation for ECC’s clients totalling £9,013,250. A 50.9% increase on 2021.
“This money was shared between 440 recipients,” explains Cooper. “The average sum awarded was £20,485, which is a significant amount by anyone’s standards.”
Individual winners included a Watford family awarded £133,607 and a Newcastle couple who were given an award of £100,139.
“For the majority of our clients their first goal is to become free from the burden of their membership,” says Andrew. “The actual award is a welcome bonus.
“Timeshare contracts can often be relinquished swiftly, whereas the claim can take more than 12 months.
“One very pleasurable aspect of our work is when we get to make the next phone call, informing them of the money they have won.”
Consistent improvements
Since incorporation in 2016, ECC have convincingly improved year on year.
“Annual improvements are the goal in any business,” confirms Cooper. “The increments in performance enjoyed by ECC via M1 Legal are not just increases, they are huge steps forward.
“Yearly performance increments of 30%, 50%, 80% and even 100% do not happen in saturated marketplaces. They occur when there is vast, untapped potential.
“Courts are on board with punishing unscrupulous timeshare companies. Their victims are finally being awarded the compensation they deserve.”
