During March, the Towergate team in Henley and Jersey decided to raise money for Parkinson’s UK, a charity close to their hearts as their previous Managing Director Mark Evans is currently living with the disease.
The team set a target of 970 kilometres – the distance from John O’Groats to Land End – for the 40 colleagues across the two offices to complete collectively by walking, cycling, running and swimming. By the end of March, the team covered a staggering 3521 kilometres, which is the distance from London to Cairo. Their final fundraising total came in at an incredible £7392 for the cause, of which £3696 was raised through our Group charity, Ardonagh Community Trust’s match funding scheme which helped to bolster their final total.
Alistair Matthews, Area Director for Henley and Jersey said: “A big thank you to all of our colleagues who got behind this cause by getting stuck in and a special shout out to the amazing support we’ve had from our other colleagues across the UK, friends, family, clients and insurer partners who recognise the great work Parkinson’s UK do.
On top of this, I think this challenge has been a great motivator for us to unite as a team in these unusual circumstances, plus get outside during such difficult times and inclement weather.”
