As part of our commitment to support businesses to navigate their international trade journey, we are pleased to launch a series of free virtual sessions in partnership with a selected group of UK Chambers across the country. The purpose of these sessions is to provide general insights into exporting, importing, and customs as well as keep traders with the latest changes in regulations and provide tips on how to grow globally.
About the Session
In this 45 minute session we will provide valuable information about the Common User Charge and latest BTOM updates the day before the new rules and charges are to go live.
The session will cover:
- The new Common User Charge – how it will apply to food imports from the EU:
- Medium risk / High risk / Mixed consignment commodity lines
- Who pays?
- When will invoices be raised and how frequently?
- How will businesses be impacted?
- Mitigations which could be applied?
- What does it mean for inflation and consumer prices?
- The British Chambers of Commerce position – how BCC responded, short-term and longer-term policy asks
- Business perspective – how this affects the importers
Speakers:
William Bain, Head of Trade Policy, British Chambers of Commerce
Katrina Walsh, Strategy Director, The International Meat Trade Association.
