Staff and students from BNU’s School of Creative and Digital Industries were recognised at the 2024 Music Academic Partnership (MAP) Awards, held at Sound City, Liverpool, on Thursday 2 May.
The annual awards event celebrates the best talent within the MAP network, of which BNU is a member and academic partner.
Senior Lecturer Paul Fields beat out the competition to win MAP Tutor of the Year 2024, awarded to the most influential lecturer involved in the MAP network.
Two BNU students also made the list of recognition:
Alumnae of BA (Hons) Audio/Music Production at BNU, Phoebe Wilkinson, collected the ‘runner-up’ prize for Outstanding MAP Graduate 2024. The Outstanding MAP Graduate Award celebrates the most dynamic, innovative and ground-breaking students to come through a Music Academic Partnership (MAP) institute.
Peter Waterman, Senior Lecturer in Audio and Music Production, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to be Phoebe’s lecturer over her three years here at BNU and she is now flying the flag for our Music Production courses. Phoebe is currently the only female technical manager at an AMG venue at the Oxford O2 Academy and has worked with countless production teams coming through the venue (Foals, Tom Odell, You Me at Six, Pete Doherty, and DYLAN).”
Current BA (Hons) Music Business student Emmanuel Alabi-Araoye also collected a ‘runner-up’ prize but this time for the OM3 award which celebrates the best of the students who have completed level 3 qualifications at MAP institutions.
