The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation introduces new obligations for businesses placing packaging on the EU market, with requirements taking effect from 12 August 2026.

For UK manufacturers selling into the EU, and UK suppliers supporting customers who do, this means understanding which Articles apply to specific packaging, what a compliant Technical Documentation file and Declaration of Conformity must contain, and how to stay audit-ready.

This course will help businesses understand what applies to them and provide the knowledge needed to build compliant documentation rather than relying on unverified templates.

Course content

• Identify which PPWR Articles apply to a given piece of packaging
• Use My Trade Assistant to confirm packaging requirements for a specific commodity code and EU destination market
• Identify what a Technical Documentation file must contain under Annex VII
• Understand what a Declaration of Conformity must contain under Annex VIII
• Apply an audit-readiness checklist, including retention periods and keeping your Declaration of Conformity continuously updated
• Understand what is needed whether preparing your own Declaration of Conformity or supporting a customer’s requirements
