More than 40 businesses based locally to Berkshire attended Reading Football Club’s inaugural Business Club event.
Held in Club 106 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Tuesday 21st October, leaders from fields such as media, IT and facilities management congregated for networking.
Speeches were also given by club Chairman Rob Couhig, Co-CEO Joe Jacobson and Chief Revenue Officer, Tim Kilpatrick.
“The Reading FC Business Club is our platform to bring together the Reading and Thames Valley business community,” said Mr Kilpatrick. “We believe that the football club has a strong role to play and we are delighted that so many businesses are here today to work and share knowledge and support the football club.”
New owner Mr Couhig added: “The fundamental purpose of a football club is to represent the community. The businesses all unite, it gives them a focal point, and it helps them and us with supporters.
“Secondly, it’s an economic boost to us. The more we can do for local business, the more they can do for the club and a stronger squad we can put out there. The whole symbiotic relationship works for everybody.”
“We don’t just want to have a sponsor get a board up and forget about them, we want to make sure we are in a good partnership and enhance what we do together,” said Mr Jacobson. “It’s really important to get local people involved in the football club because that is what will stand the test of time.”
The club will host bi-monthly events, bringing all partners together as a community of members in support of Reading FC.
