PwC UK has officially moved into its new Reading office at One Station Hill, marking a significant milestone in the firm’s continued investment in the Thames Valley region.
The location of the new office directly opposite Reading Station offers exceptional connectivity across the UK, and positions PwC at the heart of one of the country’s fastest-growing urban economies. PwC occupies floors five and six of the landmark development, providing over 41,000 sq ft of premium workspace, and is home to 650 PwC employees and 23 partners who have moved from Forbury Place, where PwC has been located for the past 13 years.
The floors have been designed to reflect PwC’s evolved ways of working, with agile working zones, smart lockers, wellbeing rooms, and a rooftop terrace that supports both informal collaboration and fitness activities. Employees benefit from access to a wide range of amenities that promote a healthy work-life balance including a 60-person gym and secure cycle storage.
PwC’s fitout has achieved a BREEAM Outstanding accreditation (the highest level of sustainability certification) and is on track this Spring to achieve a WELL Platinum accreditation (highest level of certification for prioritising human health and well-being).
Reading was recently ranked eighth out of 50 UK cities on economic wellbeing in PwC’s Good Growth for Cities Index. Home to a breadth of industries, including specialist hubs for technology and life sciences, the Thames Valley is a key growth engine for the South East and wider UK economy. It is also a hugely attractive location for inbound investment with excellent infrastructure and skills, supported by the leading local universities.
Gareth Murfitt, Reading Market Senior Partner, PwC UK, said:
“Opening our new Reading office at One Station Hill marks a significant milestone for PwC and underlines our commitment to the Thames Valley region. As one of the UK’s fastest-growing urban economies, with enhanced connectivity through the Elizabeth Line and upgraded rail links, Reading is an increasingly attractive hub for investment and talent.
“This modern, digitally enabled space has been designed to foster collaboration, inclusivity and wellbeing, while aligning with our sustainability and net zero ambitions. By bringing our people together in a dynamic environment, we’re reinforcing our long-term presence in the region and strengthening our ability to support clients and contribute to local economic growth.”
Carl Sizer, Chief Markets Officer, PwC UK, added:
“Reading has long been an important city for PwC and our move to this impressive new building underscores our ongoing investment in, and commitment to, the area. Our offices across the country connect our people to the places our clients operate – bringing local understanding, national reach and deeper partnerships.”
