Political Working Lunches (PWLs)

In Partnership with Microsoft, these policy driven events are part of a well-established series and regularly attract a wide cross-section of delegates.

By attending these events, businesses gain an understanding of the structure and workings of Westminster and how the political landscape can help with issues that are affecting their business. A question and answer session forms part of the event, allowing for informal feedback. At previous events, TVCC and event partners, Microsoft, have hosted The Rt Hon Theresa May MP,  The Rt Hon, Alok Sharma MP, Lord Ed Vaizey, Anneliese Dodds and Layla Moran, amongst others.

On Friday, 10th June, TVCC was delighted to host the UK’s Former Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Theresa May, MP for Maidenhead to their Political Working Lunch (PWL). Hosted at Lambert Smith Hampton’s office in Maidenhead, delegates heard from the Former PM on the important topic of the technology challenge for government, policy makers and citizens alike. Mrs May spoke candidly on technology as an enabler but also a divider, highlighting the importance of ensuring that all citizens can harness the positive aspects of technology as we continue to move through our digital transformation.

After Mrs May’s talk and fire-side Q&A with Chair, Hugh Milward, General Manager, Corporate, External and Legal Affairs at Microsoft, delegates were able to pose questions directly to our keynote speaker and covered topics such as land planning and commercial property, sustainability, and climate change, as well as regional leaders, levelling-up and the mental health agenda.

“It was my first experience of this format and I found it to be extremely interesting and enlightening. Theresa May impressed greatly and it was very helpful to be allowed access to her insights about such a vital socio – economic sector. Thank you again for inviting me and also for TVCC’s friendly, welcoming hosting of a well – organised and smooth – running event.”
