The recently published new Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) for Berkshire and Oxfordshire set out a shared vision for developing the skills our businesses need to thrive over the coming years.
These plans have been shaped by extensive engagement with employers across the Thames Valley and identify the practical actions needed to address workforce challenges, improve productivity and ensure our region continues to be one of the UK’s most innovative and successful economies. Employers consistently told us they need better access to skilled workers, stronger digital and AI capability, improved leadership and management skills, more work ready recruits and a greater role in shaping training provision.
To introduce the plans and explain how you can play a part in delivering them, we are hosting two online briefing webinars. These sessions will provide an overview of the priorities, explain what they mean for employers and showcase the opportunities to get involved.
This briefing will also highlight our growing programme of Workforce Development Partnerships (WDPs), bringing employers, colleges, universities and sector partners together to tackle workforce challenges across areas including digital, construction, health and life sciences, defence and security, logistics, creative industries, visitor economy, technology and innovation, and care. These employer led partnerships are central to delivering the ambitions of the LSIPs.
