Building a Green Workforce Fit for the Future

The Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce is delighted to be working with Apex Training to bring businesses together for a morning of industry insight, workforce development and employer success stories, focused on addressing skills needs across the growing green technologies and construction sectors.

This event is ideal for employers working across construction, renewable energy, low-carbon technologies and related sectors who want to understand emerging skills needs, develop their workforce and help shape future training provision.

As demand continues to grow for skilled professionals in renewable energy, low-carbon technologies and sustainable construction, employers face both significant challenges and exciting opportunities. This event will bring together industry experts, employers and training specialists to explore how collaboration, skills development and targeted training can help build a workforce fit for the future.

The event also forms part of the Chamber’s ongoing work through the Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs), ensuring the voice of employers helps shape local skills and training provision. By sharing workforce challenges, skills gaps and future needs, businesses can directly contribute to developing a skills system that better responds to the needs of industry.

Held at the Apex Training Centre, Intec Business Park, Wade Road, Basingstoke, RG24 8NE, on Thursday 1 October, from 9.30am to 12 noon, the event will provide an opportunity to hear from industry, connect with other employers and contribute to the conversation around future green skills.

The Apex Training Centre in Basingstoke opened in 2025 and offers a range of training courses for businesses and individuals across the Thames Valley, including Solar for Roofers, Level 3 Solar PV, EESS Battery Storage, EV, Experienced Worker Practical Assessment for electricians (EWPA), and Understanding Domestic Retrofit, with further courses coming soon.
