Labelling investment enables Wasdell to meet continued demand

Swindon-based pharmaceutical business Wasdell has continued their ongoing investment in state of the art machinery in order to boost productivity and keep up with the demand for their products and services across the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector.

The company’s latest investment is a Premier Labeller P250 labelling machine.  An upgrade to the company’s existing labelling machine, this speeds up labelling to a capacity of up to 250 bottles a minute and thanks to its innovative vision system, it can identify and reject products that do not meet Wasdell’s exacting standards.

Overseeing the successful introduction and integration of Wasdell’s technological investments is Group Validation Director, Ayo Sotannde.  Ayo explained: “The features that this machine offers will be of great value to us and our clients.  Thanks to its vision system, it will ensure that all the products are correctly labelled, and that those labels feature the correct variable data, barcode and pharmacode information.

“Additionally, it can process a higher number of items per minute, as well as having the potential to apply different shapes and sizes of labels to different shaped containers according to different specifications to a much higher degree of accuracy.

“This machine is the latest in our continued programme of developing the technology used across the Wasdell Group and represents over £120,000 of investment.  Not only will this help to increase the quality of pharmaceuticals that are released to the market, it also enables us to expand the services we offer to our customers and so continue growing the business in Swindon.”
