Her Majesty, The Queen, recently hosted a reception at Clarence House to celebrate the remarkable achievements of athletes, owners, grooms, and support staff who participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games last summer.
Among the distinguished guests were representatives from Coaching4Careers‘ nominated charity, the South Bucks Riding for the Disabled Group. The Group was honoured to be invited, with several key individuals in attendance, including Mari Durward-Akhurst, who secured a Paralympic Bronze medal in 2024; Di Redfern, Group Chair and owner of Athene Lindebjerg, the horse Mari rode in competition; Romilly Hart, who cares for Athene at home; and Rob Waine, Mari’s trainer.
Also present at the event was the Group’s Vice President, Natasha Baker, who started her riding career at South Bucks, riding the group’s ponies. Natasha’s journey from those early days to becoming a decorated athlete herself stands as an inspiring testament to the opportunities the charity provides.
The South Bucks Riding for the Disabled Group is deeply committed to supporting the aspirations of individuals with disabilities, offering them a platform to achieve their goals, build confidence, and experience the joy of riding.
“We couldn’t be more excited and proud to support such a wonderful charity,” said a spokesperson for the group. “The work they do transforms lives and empowers so many people to reach their full potential.”
The reception, filled with celebration and admiration, was a reminder of the dedication and determination of all those who contribute to the success of athletes with disabilities and the life-changing impact of the South Bucks Riding for the Disabled Group.
