Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce are sad to announce the death of former Chamber President Jean Charmak, who has passed away at the age of 86.
Jean Irene Charmak was a much liked and respected business leader, who contributed to several key roles in the business community. Jean had been involved in the Reading Chamber of Commerce & Trade serving on its Council for many years and was its President for some years before the merger to create the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce in 1993.
Jean became the Reading Chamber representative on the Council of the Thames Valley Chamber before becoming a Board Director in 1996 and was President from 1999 to 2002 at a time of significant financial challenge for the Chamber, returning to the Board as Vice-President in 2004 for two years. Jean was responsible for the recruitment of Paul Briggs as CEO which established the foundations of the current modern Chamber.
