Bucks ranked among UK’s best for teaching and student experience in Guardian University Guide 2027

Buckinghamshire New University (Bucks) has climbed four places to 70th in the UK in the national rankings, recognising a continued commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience.

Among the University’s strongest results, Bucks was ranked 5th in the UK for student satisfaction with feedback and 12th for teaching satisfaction, with 90% and 91% of students respectively reporting positive experiences.

The University also performed strongly for value added, ranking 43rd nationally. This metric compares students’ degree outcomes with those that might be expected based on their entry qualifications and subject studied, helping to demonstrate the impact universities have on student achievement.

Several Bucks subjects also secured impressive national rankings, including:

  • 2nd in the UK for Mental Health Nursing
  • 14th for Paramedic Science
  • 17th for Animation and Game Design
  • 18th for Fine Art
  • 25th for Midwifery
  • 37th for Sport Science
  • 50th for Psychology

A number of subjects achieved exceptional results for teaching quality and student feedback. Midwifery and Psychology were both ranked 1st in the UK for teaching satisfaction, while Midwifery also ranked 1st nationally for student feedback. Accounting and Finance ranked 2nd in both; Fine Art, Sociology and Social Policy, Sport Science and Health Professions also featured among the UK’s top-performing subjects in these measures.

The rankings also highlighted the University’s success in helping students achieve positive outcomes. For value added, Paramedic Science ranked 1st in the UK and Mental Health Nursing came 2nd.  Elsewhere, Bucks’ Hospitality, Event Management and Tourism course ranked 2nd in the UK for career prospects.

Damien Page, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Buckinghamshire New University, said: “These results reflect the dedication and expertise of colleagues across the University and our shared commitment to delivering an exceptional student experience.

“We’re particularly pleased to see recognition for the quality of our teaching, assessment and feedback, and for the value Bucks adds to the lives of our students, giving them the opportunity to develop the skills, confidence and opportunities they need to succeed in their future careers.”

The Guardian University Guide is one of the UK’s leading university league tables and places significant emphasis on measures of teaching quality, student satisfaction and educational outcomes. Bucks’ latest performance continues a strong period of recognition for the University and its student-centred approach to higher education.
