Boyes Turner Employment Team Wins Personnel Today Award for Employment Law Firm of the Year

Boyes Turner has been named Employment Law Firm of the Year at the Personnel Today Awards 2025, recognising the firm’s innovative leadership in helping UK employers meet new legal duties under the Equality Act 2010. The judges commended the team’s proactive development of a comprehensive support package, offering sector-specific legal solutions that help organisations create inclusive, legally compliant workplaces.

In October 2024, the Act introduced a requirement for employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment, including harassment by third parties. The change created significant challenges for sectors such as leisure and hospitality, where employees regularly interact with customers, clients and contractors. Boyes Turner’s 19-strong employment team, specialists in employment law and equality, diversity and inclusion, quickly identified that many employers were unprepared and uncertain about how to comply.

In response, the team developed the Reasonable Steps Roadmap, a comprehensive support package designed to help organisations understand risks, meet their legal obligations and build safer, more inclusive cultures. The roadmap includes a lawyer-led Red Flag Risk Assessment, offering detailed risk analysis and tailored recommendations supported by reports suitable for regulatory or tribunal scrutiny. It also provides tiered training for boards, managers and employees, covering legal responsibilities, reporting mechanisms, bystander engagement and psychological safety. Policy review and development ensures that HR processes align with both legislative requirements and cultural goals.

Integrated into the firm’s wider EDI Compass programme, which includes pay gap reporting, equality audits and ED&I strategy development, the roadmap has become a cornerstone of Boyes Turner’s forward-thinking approach to workplace equality.

“Winning Employment Law Firm of the Year at the Personnel Today Awards 2025 is an incredible honour,” Andrew Whiteaker, Partner and Head of the Employment team said. “This recognition reflects the unwavering dedication of our team and our commitment to delivering exceptional support to our clients which in turn enables them to attract, retain and develop the exceptional talent they need to thrive.
