Youth produce their own films at the UKs most iconic film studios as part of Resource Productions BFI Film Academy short course.
For the 13th year running, Berkshire-based Resource Productions CIC recently delivered another successful BFI Film Academy short course, awarding funds from the British Film Institute, at the UKs most iconic film studios, Pinewood Studios, to 16 young aspiring filmmakers.
The course, aimed at 16–19 year olds, is designed to help inspire the next generation of filmmakers through 6 weekly workshops covering the filmmaking processes from development, all the way to post production and distribution. Whilst completing their NCFE (Northern Council for Further Education) Level 2 Award in Preparing to Work in the Film Industry qualification qualifications, the cohort were able to gain and develop the commercial and cultural knowledge and skills needed to build a career in the industry.
On Saturday 1st February, the budding filmmakers and producers were invited to the John Barry Theatre at Pinewood Studios for a celebratory graduation ceremony and a screening of their short films, with friends and family, and Resource Productions alumni in attendance, where they received their BFI certificates and will shortly be awarded with their NCFE Level 2 Award in Preparing to Work in the Film Industry qualification. Resource Productions would like to thank Dan Burton and the whole of Pinewood Group for their continued support in facilitating the BFI Film Academy.

This opportunity connects local talent with the Pinewood Studios Group, Regional partners, and is a fantastic experience for all involved. Resource Productions is thrilled to be selected once more as one of BFI’s regional delivery partners for the Southeast Region. This was our 13th year of collaborating with Pinewood Studios Group to run the Academy and we delivered an excellent programme of training and masterclasses with Industry Professionals to support the students in their journeys into the Film and Creative Industries.
Founded in 1999, Resource Productions began with a small community project, “Active Archive,” bringing together young filmmakers and museum volunteers in Slough to learn digital skills and share their stories of Slough. 25 years later, they recently celebrated their 25th anniversary with a special ‘Moving Image Mela’ at The Curve showcasing the local talent with digital art, moving images and live performances.
