James Cowper Kreston has announced that from 1 April 2026, Alex Peal will become sole Managing Partner following six highly successful years as Joint Managing Partner alongside Sue Staunton.
Sue will be stepping down from the joint Managing Partner role to focus on continuing to grow and develop the firm’s presence and service offering in the Technology and Life Sciences sectors, as well as further developing its advisory services and leading a number of strategic projects. She will remain a key senior leader within James Cowper Kreston.
During their joint tenure, Alex and Sue have led the firm through a period of unprecedented growth, further cementing James Cowper Kreston’s position as a leading independent firm offering a full range of services to progressive businesses and private individuals, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Commenting on her time as Joint Managing Partner, Sue said: “It has been an absolute privilege to serve as Joint Managing Partner over the past six years. I have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Alex and our talented teams during a period of such exciting growth and change for the firm. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and am equally excited about the opportunity to devote more of my time to growing our Technology and Life Sciences client portfolio, developing our advisory services and, most importantly, continuing to invest in and develop our people as we look to the future.”
Alex added: “I would like to sincerely thank Sue for her outstanding leadership, commitment and partnership over the last six years. It has been a genuine pleasure to work alongside her and to jointly lead the firm through such a transformative period. As I take on the role of sole Managing Partner, my focus will be on continuing the firm’s strong growth trajectory, further developing our skills and capabilities, and ensuring we consistently deliver the very best services to our clients. I am delighted that Sue will continue to play such a vital role in shaping the future of James Cowper Kreston.”
This planned transition reflects the firm’s continued commitment to long-term strategic growth, strong leadership and exceptional client service.
