There’s a real sense of excitement building at the Link Centre as the Bespoke Guardian Swindon Wildcats prepare to take to the ice for what promises to be a very special season.
The Wildcats enter their 40th season as reigning National League champions, and while supporters may have enjoyed a summer away from the rink, behind the scenes it has been anything but quiet.
Following the retirement of some long-standing and much-loved players, the summer has brought change to the Wildcats roster, with a number of exciting new signings joining the team. There will be plenty of new faces for supporters to get to know and they are being encouraged to keep their eyes peeled for the announcement of a new Captain as they begin the next chapter in Wildcats history.
But it isn’t only the team that has been getting ready. A huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes during the summer to prepare for a new season, from commercial partners and hospitality experiences to everything required to create the match nights the supporters know and love.
Victoria Hart, Partnership Manager, explains why this season’s build-up particularly special –
There’s a fresh look for our 40th year. Our new jerseys look fantastic, with a nod to Wildcats history through the reintroduction of our retro logo, a fitting way to celebrate where the club has come from while looking forward to what comes next. There is so much happening behind the scenes that supporters don’t necessarily get to see, and the excitement around the club is infectious. To be heading into our 40th season as reigning National League champions, with new players, a new-look jersey and so much planned on and off the ice, is incredibly exciting. I’m really looking forward to meeting more businesses from across the Thames Valley and welcoming them to the Wildcats this season.
She continues –
If you’ve never experienced a Wildcats match night, this could be the season to change that. Ice hockey is fast, exciting and brilliantly unpredictable and you certainly don’t need to know all the rules to enjoy your first game. Bring the family for a different night out, come along with friends, entertain clients or colleagues, or experience one of our VIP hospitality areas with your business. Whether you’re a lifelong hockey fan or have never seen a puck drop, there’s a place for everyone at the Wildcats
