Reading is a great place for business as firm invests for the long-term with new office

The successful growth of Crowe UK’s Thames Valley office sees the firm relocate to Reading’s prestigious ‘R+’ building, reaffirming its long-term commitment to the town and the region as a great place to do business.

Crowe UK’s Reading office doubling of its business over the last few years has necessitated the firm to relocate to the bigger 13,000 sq. ft workspace on the fifth floor of the ‘R+’ building. The office has also seen substantial growth across all other aspects of its business including auditing, tax and financial planning and business solutions for corporates, pension schemes, not for profit clients and professional practices alike.

Working closely with the building’s developer, Oval, the firm has embarked on a substantial ‘fit-out’ programme to install new technology which encourages independent and collaborative working for colleagues and clients. These enhancements give Crowe’s people a choice to learn, develop and network while splitting their time between the office, which includes large open workspaces and a spacious 3,000 sq. ft. terrace area, their client locations or when working from home.

Relocation to the ‘R+’ helps Crowe deliver on its sustainability commitments as the building includes roof-mounted solar panels, energy efficient LED lighting and an excellent energy efficiency rating, plus using energy from 100% renewable sources. Given its location, the building also promotes sustainable travel by being conveniently situated opposite Reading’s mainline train station as well as having secure bike storage and shower facilities.

Crowe Thames Valley consistent, strong growth has seen a-near two-thirds increase in headcount to nearly 200 employees over the last four years. Its relocation also sees an increase in workspace capacity to allow to continue recruiting and investing in developing the next generation to sustain anticipated long-term growth in the region.

The firm already employs over 50 graduates and apprentices in its Thames Valley office as part of its Early Years recruitment and will welcome more trainees, including those through its established workplace secondment scheme and the 10,000 Black Interns programme.

Nigel Bostock, Chief Executive, said: “Our strategic vision has seen the firm grow substantially over the last few years, spurring us to find an outstanding office space which supports our people and long-term business growth in Reading and the wider Thames Valley region.

“The combination of a highly educated talent pool, excellent transport connections and a strong, innovative economy, which has a diverse presence of finance, energy, technology, pharmaceutical companies, reflects our belief the town is great place for business and an economic powerhouse of the South East.”

Jeremy Cooper, Reading Office Managing Partner, said: “We’re delighted on our relocation to the prestigious R+ building. This is an exciting move for Crowe and demonstrates our continued commitment in providing excellent support to our people and growing client base in the Thames Valley region and creates the best environment from which to drive our business forward for the future.’’

“Securing the large top floor creates a more spacious, sustainable and modern workspace allowing our people to thrive, collaborate and meet clients, while also being conveniently situated opposite the train station in heart of the town centre to support our hybrid working policies.”
