Chamber launches programme of activity for Osaka World Expo 2025

The Chamber recently launched their Osaka Expo 2025 programme of activity, at Konami Digital Entertainment B.V in Windsor, with Ambassador Hayashi from the Embassy of Japan in the UK.

The event was attended by about 30 representatives of local businesses in the Thames Valley, including Japanese companies, and was designed to build momentum for 2025 Expo and to further promote business and investment between Japan and UK.

Anne White, Head of International Trade and Compliance at Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce said “We were delighted to official launch our Osaka World Expo 2025 programme with Chamber members Konami.  Acting as a hub, we will be promoting the World Expo to our members, wider business community and through the network of Accredited Chambers of Commerce in the UK and highlighting the many opportunities available, enabling businesses across the region and beyond, to understand more about Osaka 2025.”

In his remarks, Ambassador Hayashi referred to the history of the World Expo held in the UK in 1851, where products that would form the basis of modern democracy and telecommunications were exhibited, and introduced Osaka as a “Testing Ground for Future Society” under the theme of “Designing Future Society for our Lives”.  He also mentioned that since the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for business cooperation between the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry was signed in 2014, business exchanges between the two regions have continued to develop. He also expressed his hope that the 2025 Expo would be an opportunity to further strengthen relations between the regions of Japan and UK.

The World Expo will take place between 13th April and 13th October 2025 and the theme is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”.  It aims to inspire people to think about how we can create a better future for ourselves and future generations.
