Conquer the Beacons, Change Lives – Are you up for the challenge?!

Looking for some motivation to get you excited and active for 2024? The Beacons Challenge, taking place on Saturday 6th July 2024, may well just be that rewarding opportunity you’ve been waiting for. It’s time to dust off those walking boots (or running shoes!) and call upon your friends or colleagues to join you for this amazing route through the glorious scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

On Saturday 6th July 2024, teams of between 2 and 6 people will be setting their compasses and heading out to hike either 6 or 10 different peaks, including the iconic Pen y Fan, covering an amazing distance of either 17km or 34km in one day!

Whether you’re looking for a team building day with a difference, or fancy a challenging day outside with a group of friends, or want to raise funds to help vulnerable young people, then this is the challenge for you. But don’t just take our word for it. This is what some of the previous participants had to say:

“Even though the mountains looked daunting, as soon as we got there, the whole team made us feel like we could achieve it. During the walk when it was getting really hard I had to remind myself of what the young people go through which spurred me on even when it was difficult. I’ll be back next year!” – Dyane, Beacons Challenge 2023 Participant

“Thank you everyone for an amazing day, especially to all those involved in organising and the marshals out on the route yesterday. No doubt you’ll see us next year.” – Robyn, Beacons Challenge 2022 Participant

We are extremely grateful to our sponsors, Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports, who are covering the costs of the event, which means there is no entry fee and all the funds raised go directly to our programme. Teams are asked to raise funds to support the Youth Adventure Trust and all participants will receive a discount voucher to spend online or in store at Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports.

The Youth Adventure Trust is a registered charity that helps vulnerable young people aged 11 – 16 from Swindon and Wiltshire to build resilience, develop confidence and learn the skills to face the challenges in their lives and make positive choices. All the funds raised go towards supporting vulnerable young people from local schools through these challenging times. The Beacons Challenge is now in its 14th year and has raised over £150,000 to help vulnerable youngsters build the resilience they need through outdoor adventure and one-to-one support.
