The Chamber’s business-led sustainability working group (SWG) work programme received strong support from the 50+ businesses attending the recent ‘Strengthening your Company’s Pathway to Net Zero’ webinar helped in partnership with founding partner EY.
During the webinar businesses responded to a series of questions which provided a strong endorsement to the continued work and focus of the SWG with over 95% of respondents motivated to be part of a wider community who are progressing towards becoming more sustainable together.
Further engagement highlighted that the most important factor on the pathway to net-zero and sustainability is access to information and resources, followed by best practice sharing; deep dive sessions on the SWG checklist/wider sustainability topics; support from peers working towards similar goals; and benchmarking.
The webinar was rewatched nearly a hundred times in the first two working days and can be watched on demand here.
The Thames Valley Business Sustainability Checklist was launched during the webinar. Developed in partnership with the SWG members, the Checklist offers a practical guide and approach to the climate change issues affecting business, especially SMEs.
It is intended to help companies in their effort in addressing the climate change, with a specific focus on decarbonisation and net-zero of sustainability. Providing comprehensive and practical information, there are also external resources including carbon calculators and decarbonisation initiatives.
