New event for the software developer community in Swindon

There’s a brand new event in town for technology fans and those that work in the tech space in Swindon.

Created by Fluff Software, ‘Swindon Software’ is a bi-monthly event that encourages the developer community in Swindon to come together and share ideas. It’s based at The Workshed which is the home of the Fluff team.

Scott and his team are regulars at various software meet ups around the country, so he decided it was time to bring something similar to his home town.

The event aligns to the ever-expanding ‘tech-scape’ in Swindon, which has become a hub for tech startups and larger tech-centric businesses following huge sector growth in the area.

Research by Whitecap Consulting, commissioned by Tech South West, shows the South West tech sector is on track to grow by almost £20 billion in terms of gross added value by 2026. This is coupled with the creation of around 125,000 tech jobs.

We have the 5th largest tech sector of the 12 in the UK and already have around 170,000 workers in tech sectors. Therefore so it wasn’t too much of a surprise when the team at Fluff filled every seat on their flagship meet up!

Founder Scott Gulliver commented; “As developers ourselves, we recognized there was a need for a relaxed and informal meet up where we could all share ideas. It’s especially prevalent since the rise in working from home.

It was great to have so many people together on the night discussing their ideas and getting excited about the future of tech in our town.”

The first event back in June had speakers discussing data engineering and fantasty football as well as the MyNavy app created by Great State. The event was also sponsored by SETsquared Partnership.

With the success and positive feedback from the first event, Scott has decided to make it a regular meet up and is hoping to build the community further over the coming months.

You can join the group here  plus get notified of future events too.

The next event happening on 23rd August has two new speakers who are currently under wraps so keep an eye on the Fluff social channels for updates.
