Following the local Chamber Council Annual meeting, Nancy Lalor and Richard Collins have both been appointed President. Nancy and Richard will take on the role at Slough Chamber Council and Buckinghamshire respectively.
Additionally, Libby Pittman, Sales Manager from the Holiday Inn Express Slough, has joined as the hospitality and leisure representative.
Nancy will take on the role, as the present incumbent, Jeffrey Smith, who has held the role for more than five years, steps down. He will remain a committed member of the Council and continue in his position as Managing Partner at Eacotts. Jonathan Moughton of Haines Watts Chartered Accountants has resigned from the Chamber Council, citing work commitments as the reason for his decision. Jonathan served for more than 10 years.
In her newly appointed role Nancy Lalor commented: “I am thrilled with the prospect of taking on this prestigious role and working closely with the Slough Chamber of Commerce to address our key priorities. With the support of the whole Council, I feel sure we will make an impact and bring together likeminded organisations to work with us to support all elements of our Manifesto. I have a real passion for bridging the gap between education and employment and am excited at the prospect of working in collaboration with others to bring this to fruition.
“The world of work is changing, and it is our intention to work with members to ensure we support the process by not just understanding the workplace of tomorrow, but also ensuring that young people feel ready for life after education.”
Whilst Richard Collins, who has previously held the Vice President role at Bucks Chamber Council, is taking over from Mike Watson commented: “It is a great pleasure to be given the opportunity to become President.
“Having been involved with the Chamber for many years, I see this as an ideal opportunity to generate enhanced engagement between those on the Council and the wider Bucks community. We are in a time where businesses are looking for guidance and reassurance and it is my vision to focus on those areas that really make Bucks stand out, promoting its strengths and opportunities that help to guarantee sustainable growth and security.
“Moving forward, it would be positive to see an increase in apprenticeships and work placements, more focus on the scope and benefit of the creative industry to the local economy and the positive impact that responsible organisations have on the environment and communities the work and operate in.
“The importance of developing a council that reflects those grass roots businesses as well as the county’s big hitters. I would also like to introduce a process that delivers a clear and transparent opportunity for businesses to contribute to an ongoing narrative around the kind of services and support they need to flourish and prosper. This in turn will contribute to positive impact reporting that can feed back in to the British Chamber of Commerce.”
