Local businesses can double their impact this Christmas as Maggie’s Oxford launches appeal

Maggie’s Oxford is asking local businesses to support its Christmas appeal, with company donations made before 31 December potentially worth twice as much thanks to a generous matched funding pledge from a group of supporters.

Maggie’s provides expert care and support to people with cancer and their families, offering somewhere to turn when a diagnosis changes everything. From practical advice and emotional support to financial advice and help with the financial impact of cancer, its centres are there for people when they need them.

Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for people affected by cancer. Research shows that 66% of people with cancer expect Christmas to be harder than other times of the year, while 44% worry that this Christmas could be their last.

Behind the celebrations can be uncertainty about the future, worries about treatment and side effects, financial pressures, and the emotional challenge of trying to make Christmas special for the people they love. Yet people with cancer still want to celebrate, make memories, spend time with their families and hold on to what matters most.

That is where Maggie’s can help. Its 27 centres provide free, expert support to people with cancer and their families and friends, listening, offering practical advice and helping people find a way forward.

This Christmas, gifts to the appeal could go twice as far. Thanks to the pledge from a group of supporters, donations could be matched £ for £, so a company’s support could make double the impact.
