New APPG report highlights Maidenhead SMEs powering Britain’s export growth

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for International Trade and Investment, in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade, has today published The Power of Place, a new report highlighting the vital contribution that a number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Maidenhead make to local communities and the wider UK economy.

The Power of Place showcases SME exporters from five constituencies across the UK, selected by their local MPs, as examples of the innovation and ambition found in every part of the country. Their stories show how local businesses, supported by local champions, can strengthen communities while contributing to Britain’s competitiveness and reputation as a global trading nation.

At a time when growth and investment are central to the UK’s economic ambitions, The Power of Place shines a light on the businesses turning local success into national and international impact. It also highlights the significant untapped opportunity, and the integral role SMEs can play in helping the UK achieve these ambitions.

Mike Reader MP, Chair of the APPG for International Trade and Investment said:

I’ve seen first-hand where Britain’s economic success begins: in every village, town, city and region of the UK. The businesses featured in this report show that world-class exporters aren’t just found in major financial centres; they’re being built up and down the country. If we’re serious about growth, we need to back more SMEs to take their expertise beyond our shores and into global markets. I call on the next Government to make this a priority.”

Businesses featured in The Power of Place include some of Maidenhead’s fastest growing and innovative businesses, such as Ultra Cyber Ltd, one of the UK’s leading cyber security experts, and a range of other firms whose success reflects the strengths of their local economies.

As policymakers continue to focus on regional growth and local prosperity, The Power of Place serves as both a celebration of SME exporting success and a reminder of the role that business across Maidenhead can play in delivering jobs, investment, opportunity and long-term prosperity in communities throughout the UK.
