Field Seymour Parkes LLP has advised Ascot Racecourse on a significant step forward in its sustainability journey, supporting the grant of a rooftop Lease and entry into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a major solar installation at The Grandstand.
The project is expected to generate clean, on-site renewable electricity via an installation with capacity approaching 1.8 MWp, with Ascot committing to purchase the power generated under the PPA. This project marks another important milestone in Ascot Racecourse’s ambitious sustainability programme through its “Racing to Zero” strategy, launched in 2022, embedding environmental responsibility across every aspect of its operations.
FSP’s Renewable Energy & Environment team are experienced in acting for landowners in negotiating solar leases, as well as other documents necessary for renewable energy, the environment, utilities and infrastructure, including wind farms, battery storage, anaerobic digestion facilities, rooftop solar, the extraction of mines and minerals, boreholes and EV charging facilities.
Laura Czapski, Legal Director in FSP’s Renewable Energy & Environment team, led the transaction with support from Caterina Magenes, Solicitor, and Cathrine Ripley, Partner, advising on the PPA.
