A year after opening its doors, Nook & Huddle, the coworking and community workspace in the heart of Malmesbury High Street, is celebrating its first anniversary by inviting the wider community in for a free open day on 25th March.
The space, which has quickly become a hub for freelancers, small business owners and remote workers, was created to address a growing challenge facing many modern workers: the isolation of working from home and the lack of professional, affordable space for small businesses in local towns.
Founder Sara Harrod launched Nook & Huddle with a simple idea, that work is better when people have space to focus, connect and collaborate, whilst being close to home and your local community.
“Too many brilliant people are building businesses or working remotely from kitchen tables and spare rooms,” says Harrod. “They’re talented, ambitious and working incredibly hard, but they’re doing it alone. Nook & Huddle was designed to change.”
Located in a building that previously operated as a charity shop for over a decade, the space has been transformed into a welcoming coworking space designed to feel like a ‘home office away from home.’ And not the corporate workspace that many coworking environments can feel like.
Members and visitors can access hot desks, dedicated work pods, meeting rooms, super-fast WiFi, printing facilities and plenty of coffee, but Harrod says the physical workspace is only part of the story.
“What’s really been special this year is seeing the community grow,” she explains. “People who arrived as strangers now collaborate, share ideas, celebrate wins together and support each other through the harder days. That sense of connection is something you simply don’t get working alone.”
Over the past year, Nook & Huddle has welcomed a wide mix of professionals through its doors, from consultants of all kinds and designers to financial advisors, start-up founders and remote employees. The space has also hosted business advice clinics, workshops and informal networking opportunities to support the local business community, which are always free to those who attend.
To mark its first anniversary, Nook & Huddle is hosting a free open day from 9am to 5pm on 25 March, inviting anyone curious about coworking to come and experience the space.
Visitors can work from the space for the day, take a tour, meet the community or simply drop in for a coffee and a look around.
“There’s no charge and no pressure,” says Harrod. “We just want people to come and see what we’ve created here. If you’ve ever walked past and wondered what happens inside, this is your chance.”
The event also reflects the wider role Nook & Huddle hopes to play on the high street — not just as a workspace, but as a place where local professionals and small businesses can connect, learn and grow together.
“We believe high streets should be places where people come together, not just to shop but to work, collaborate and build businesses,” Harrod adds. “That’s what Nook & Huddle is about.”
