eATA 2026: Navigating the Transition to Digital ATA Carnets
Are you a UK business currently using ATA Carnets for international trade or a freight forwarder managing them for clients? The United Kingdom has formally notified the World Customs Organisation that it will be ready to switch to digital Carnets from 1 April 2026. This webinar is designed to provide you with a clear roadmap for the transition, ensuring your business is ready for the “first block” go-live alongside the EU, Norway, and Switzerland.
Whether you are:
- Seeking to understand the official timelines for the shift from paper to a fully digital (eATA) environment by 2028.
- Wanting a practical walk through of the ATA Carnet App for smartphones and the ATA Carnet Desktop (ACD).
- Looking for guidance on the “Paper-First” rule, where paper documents must still be endorsed by Customs before presenting digital QR codes during the current transition phase.
- Needing to know how to test digital Carnets during the vital January and February window before the test environments are disabled in March.
- Advice on sharing digital declarations with freight forwarders or drivers via the app’s sharing functionality.
- Tips on pre-notifying Customs at least 48 hours in advance to ensure a trained officer is available to process your test digital Carnet.
Who should attend:
- Chamber Members and Non-Members who currently use paper ATA Carnets for temporary exports.
- Freight Forwarders and Logistics Providers who need to master the ATA Carnet Desktop (ACD) to manage multiple Carnets in parallel.
- Export Managers and Documentation Officers looking to improve their internal expertise on the new QR code and PIN/ID systems.
- International Trade Professionals who want to ensure their operations remain compliant as the UK and EU move toward a digital-first border.
As your issuing Chamber, we will also explain how we enable your system profile for digital Carnets and provide the necessary PIN and Carnet ID required to download your documents to the app.
