Royal Holloway, University of London, will host the IAIC Annual Conference in August 2026, welcoming representatives from all 20 Alliance members to the UK.
Launched by the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), the Intercontinental Alliance for Integrated Care (IAIC) is a pioneering global initiative dedicated to advancing healthy ageing and sustainable, patient-centred integrated care systems worldwide.
The IAIC brings together 20 leading higher education institutions and research institutes across multiple regions, uniting healthcare providers, social service agencies, academics, and policymakers in a shared mission to improve care for ageing populations. Founding members include Royal Holloway, University of London, and Newcastle University, alongside other prominent global partners.
As populations age and chronic disease prevalence rises, health and social care systems worldwide face growing pressure to deliver coordinated, dignified, and high-quality care. The IAIC responds to this urgent challenge by fostering cross-border collaboration, knowledge exchange, and evidence-informed innovation to support holistic models of integrated care.
Strategic Focus Areas
The Alliance’s work is guided by five core strategic themes:
-
Continuity of Care – Promoting seamless transitions across healthcare and social care settings
-
Healthy Ageing – Emphasising prevention, early intervention, and wellbeing across the life course
-
Digital Inclusion and Innovation – Leveraging technology to enhance access, equity, and care delivery
-
Training and Capacity Building – Strengthening the skills and competencies of health and social care professionals
-
Governance and Economics – Developing sustainable, scalable, and culturally adaptable care models
A Steering Committee comprising representatives from the Alliance’s founding members will provide strategic leadership and guide the development of impactful initiatives across regions.
