The facilities offered at Howbery Business Park are proving invaluable to a new company that helps engineering businesses operate seamlessly by efficiently supplying crucial components. Having been in the industry for 30 years, Gavin Tarrant started up GT Pro Engineering Supplies, a service provider and reseller of a range of products to engineering and industrial markets, earlier this year.
As Gavin lives nearby, he already knew of Howbery Park. On visiting, he found he liked the people, and facilities, the environment and the offices space – it had enough space to store some small, popular products, as well fitting in two desks. Crucially for Gavin’s business, the Howbery Park post room could receive deliveries if he wasn’t available to do so.
Gavin and Mark Simms (a former colleague of Gavin’s who joined the company as Sales Manager) deliver most orders to clients themselves, so spend a lot of time out and about. Most of their customers – in the pharmaceutical, automotive, medical, food, manufacturing industries, and research and development organisations – are based in Oxfordshire, but some are further afield.
“We typically supply critical spares and components for engineering and industrial businesses,” explains Gavin “but we then often end up sourcing other products for those same companies, such as packaging, janitorial products and PPE. If someone is buying a lot of small items, we can save them a lot of time by sourcing those products for them, using our knowledge of reliable suppliers.”
Howbery Park Estates Manager Donna Bowles said: “We’re so happy that Howbery is proving a good fit for this new company. As a small business park, we are able to get know our clients well and try and meet any of their specific needs. We were pleased to find that some of the products supplied by Gavin’s company are useful for us here at Howbery too.”
