Baby Acorn Clinics, a national network specialising in tongue-tie assessment and division, feeding support, and bodywork, has stepped in to provide essential infant feeding services following the collapse of a major private midwifery provider earlier this year.
Within a month, Baby Acorn Clinics welcomed five experienced practitioners formerly with that provider, ensuring families can continue to access timely care. The organisation is actively recruiting more clinicians across England to strengthen and grow the service.
Tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) affects around 1 in 10 babies at birth, with about half of those experiencing feeding difficulties such as poor latch, nipple pain, or slow growth (NHS Bucks Healthcare ). Without fast access to assessment and treatment, families may face significant emotional and physical challenges.
Baby Acorn Clinics now offers home visits across seven practices — Ripon, Chesterfield, Wellingborough, Frimley, Braintree, Bristol and Swindon — alongside clinic-based appointments in Swindon and Chesterfield, with more locations to follow. The Swindon site also provides feeding support and cranial chiropractic bodywork, offering a truly integrated service.
Patrick Campbell, CQC Registered Manager, said:
As a parent myself, I know the distress when feeding goes wrong and the right help feels out of reach. At Baby Acorn Clinics we are committed to ensuring families have fast, professional and compassionate support. By bringing in experienced practitioners and building strong links with health visitors, midwives and lactation consultants, we’re making sure no family is left without care.
Liz Priest, Practitioner at Baby Acorn Clinics Chesterfield, added:
“Many families were left anxious and uncertain when their care options suddenly disappeared. Being able to continue supporting them under Baby Acorn means we can keep providing continuity, reassurance, and high-quality care when it’s needed most.”
Baby Acorn Clinics also welcomes interest from local midwives, health visitors and feeding specialists. Practitioners are regularly invited to visit and shadow at the clinics, helping to strengthen community knowledge and referral pathways.
