The Chamber is leading a trade mission to Osaka, to develop new connections, trade and investment opportunities. Working with Osaka Chamber of Commerce, Kansai Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and SME Japan, this mission is focused on the key sectors of innovation, technology and sustainability with a full day dedicated to attending the World Expo 2025.
The Chamber has acted as a national hub, promoting the World Expo to members, wider business community and through the network of Accredited Chambers of Commerce in the UK. Highlighting the many opportunities available, the aim has been to generate commercial opportunities but also long lasting business relationships.
Paul Britton, CEO, TVCC, said: “We know from our work over the past 10 years that our Thames Valley Trade Mission participants can expect to learn from, and greatly enjoy, the entrepreneurial spirit of the region and the warm hospitality from a community at the heart of cultural Japan. I would like to thank our kind hosts and representatives that are accompanying us, and our official partners Harwell Campus for their support in making this Trade Mission possible.”
David Williams, Commercial Director at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, said: “We’re proud to support the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce’s trade mission to Japan. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to fostering innovation and unlocking investment between UK and Japanese businesses”.
He continues: “The Chamber’s strong partnership with Osaka has already created global connections that align closely with Harwell’s mission of driving scientific discovery and commercial growth across key sectors including space, health, energy, and quantum technologies.”
Jeff Daniel, VP New Projects, Velocys, said: “As part of this delegation, Velocys hopes to strengthen relationships with technology partners, explore new collaboration opportunities, and share our experience in delivering sustainable aviation fuel projects.
He continues “Japan is moving quickly to advance SAF and other renewable fuels, and Velocys is ready to help accelerate that momentum. With proven project success here and the most field-tested Fischer-Tropsch technology in the market, our primary goal is to bring commercial-scale projects online faster and more efficiently.”
The World Expo runs until the 13th of October 2025, and the theme is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. It aims to inspire people to think about how they can create a better future for themselves and future generations.
