Deloitte has appointed James Brass as its new office senior partner for Reading. Brass will lead a team of over 800 in his new role, based in the firm’s office at Abbots House.

Brass is Deloitte UK’s technology audit lead partner with over 20 years’ experience in audit and assurance. His work has focussed on UK and US listed TMT companies.

Deloitte’s Reading office is home to over 800 of its people, with specialisms including audit and assurance as well as tax and legal. 50 of the firm’s partners are based in the city, while there were over 200 promotions across the office in June this year.

James Brass, office senior partner for Reading at Deloitte said: “My priority is to ensure that Reading remains a great place for our people to work, develop and thrive. We have so much talent here across a variety of specialisms, underpinned by our commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

“This is an important time for the region, with growth in the Thames Valley powered by the technology industry and advances across life sciences and healthcare. Our role is to engage with the public and private sectors, as well as academia, in an effective way to capitalise on the mutual growth opportunities.”

Richard Bray, managing partner for the regions at Deloitte, said: “James is the ideal leader to drive forward our Reading office. He has extensive experience,  detailed knowledge of and a commitment to the Thames Valley community. The Oxford-Cambridge Arc supports over two million jobs, and it’s crucial that our teams in the South East are engaging effectively with businesses and leaders within it. James will be at the heart of that for Deloitte in Reading.”

Brass will also focus on the office’s commitment to the local community through its local charity partner, Ability Net, an organisation which empowers disabled people through technology skills and support, and its work with the John Madejski Academy.
