Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce (TVCC) welcomed Swindon MPs, Rt Hon. Heidi Alexander MP for Swindon South and Secretary of State for Transport and Will Stone, MP for Swindon North to the Swindon Political Working Lunch on Friday 28th March.
The event was part of the wider policy and regional leadership work of the Chamber to provide opportunities for MPs across Swindon, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire to meet with local businesses and other key institutions such as colleges, universities, and healthcare providers.
Attendees were welcomed by Tim Major, Senior Account Manager, TVCC, who leads on the Chambers business engagement in Swindon. Following an introduction by Will Stone MP to the recent development in promoting the vision for Swindon’s future, and a view from Westminster from Cabinet member Rt Hon Heidi Alexander MP, the two MPs took part in a lively and informative ‘fireside chat’ facilitated by Paul Britton, CEO, TVCC.
Will Stone MP said:
It was a pleasure to be invited to speak at the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce event and discuss our focus on bringing growth to the town and wider region. The three main pillars to achieve this are good jobs, good skills, and good homes and it was great to answer questions from businesses and industry leaders on this.
Paul Britton remarked:
It is clear that we have two highly motivated representatives of the Swindon community in Westminster, each bringing a different perspective to championing the Swindon community, and co-operating to bring attention to the potential of the town. Thank you to our members who contributed to the question-and-answer session, there is a real sense that Swindon has a significant and important role to play in the growth aspirations for the Thames Valley and the wider UK.
The TVCC Political Working Lunch series continues to be a cornerstone of the Chamber’s efforts to promote dialogue between local political figures and the business community.
