Why the UK is Listing Data Centres as Critical Cyber Assets

The Thames Valley is a significant location for data centres, contributing to the fact the UK is arguable Western Europe’s leader in the number of Data Centres.   As engines of modern life, they power the UK’s digital economy and keep our most personal information safe.  

The UK government has decided to take steps to ensure they receive adequate protection from cyber threats as they announce plans to designate them as Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), allowing better coordination and cooperation with the government against cyber-security issues and unexpected events.
