The team at Scannappeal, Thames Valley Chamber’s Charity of the Year, is embarking on their latest fundraising challenge and they need your support.
Undertaking six Ultra Challenges in six months, their Head of Corporate Partnerships Nigel Naylor-Smith, will be walking, jogging, or running 152 kilometres (in total) on some of Britain’s finest trails.
Participating in the Windsor 50 in April, London to Brighton in May, Cotswold Way in June, North Downs 50 in August, and the South Coast and Thames Path in September – each challenge will cover between 22kms and 30kms.
A real test for fitness and willpower, especially since Nigel completed only two Ultra Challenges last year and they were months apart!
The charity’s aim is to raise between £25,000 and £50,000 from this specific event for new cardiovascular equipment for the NHS (part of a wider £2 – £3m appeal).
Paul Britton, CEO, TVCC, said
This is a fantastic initiative, and we wish Nigel all the best in all the Challenges. His commitment is inspiring and the Chamber team look forward to supporting him in the journey.
Would your business (or you personally) support Scannappeal and inspire Nigel to complete this challenge?
Only 50 businesses are needed to sign up to being Pioneer sponsors and the charity smashes through their target.
There are four levels of corporate sponsorship to choose from:
- Pioneer – simply donate £250 per month (or £12 per working day) from April to September
- Trailblazer – sponsor one or more individual Ultra challenges at £250 each
- Explorer – sponsor one or more individual Ultra challenges at £100 each
- Voyager – one-off donation of your choice
Each level of sponsorship comes with reciprocal benefits across social media and other channels.
Why is it necessary to fundraise for this equipment – simply put, the NHS capital budget does not stretch far enough, and the costs for new technology are still rising.
Outside of the financial component, there are also some existing and future challenges for all of us across England as the British Heart Foundation (BHF) published in January 2026:
- Cardiovascular disease (CVD) Healthcare costs are estimated at £10 billion each year.
- There are more than 7 million people (estimated) living with cardiovascular disease in England – 3.7 million men and 3.4 million women.
- An ageing and growing population and improved survival rates could see these numbers rise still further.
- Cardiovascular disease causes just over a quarter (26 per cent) of all deaths in England; that’s around 140,000 deaths each year – an average of 380 people each day or one death every four minutes.
- Around 38,000 people under the age of 75 in England die cardiovascular disease (CVD) each year.
The need to support our NHS remains – please consider whether you can support the Thames Valley Chamber’s Charity of the Year and help create a healthier future.
