New plans for Quarterly Economic Survey as Chamber and BDO look to showcase Thames Valley Business Community successes

To monitor the resilience and recovery of the local business community, the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce (TVCC) has developed a new partnership with accountancy and business advisory firm BDO, to further enhance the reach and showcase the results of its Thames Valley Quarterly Economic Survey (QES).

The Chamber’s track record on the QES has ensured its reputation continues to grow as a reliable economic indicator, measuring the state of business sentiment and UK GDP growth.

Businesses across the Thames Valley will be invited to discuss the findings and the implications for the region at a series of virtual quarterly events with senior representatives from both the Chamber and BDO.

David Brookes, Partner and Head of BDO in the Thames Valley said: “If the last year has shown us anything it’s that the Thames Valley business community has a lot to be proud of and we are keen to help champion and promote these successes.

“The importance of the QES, both from a regional and a national perspective, can’t be stressed enough as it allows us to understand what is happening in the region, pinpointing where additional support may be needed, what businesses should be wary of, and what we, as a community, should be doing. These results will be comparable on a national basis and gives everyone concerned the opportunity to further strengthen the key drivers of growth in the Thames Valley.”

Paul Britton, CEO of TVCC commented: “The QES is a true indicator of business health in the UK, covering indicators including import and export volumes, manufacturing output, cash flow, domestic sales and orders as well as identifying which sectors are demonstrating greater resilience.

“The new partnership with BDO will also us to increase the reach of the survey and inform our policy teams as to what support measures should be put in place for those that need additional help. BDO’s insight and commentary into the economic performance of the Thames Valley business community will help us understand how we can expedite the region’s recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic.”

Both members and non-members alike will be invited to complete the survey and join the TVCC and BDO Quarterly events programme commencing on Tuesday 18th May.
