Low Carbon Apprenticeship coming soon to Windsor Forest Colleges Group

Windsor Forest Colleges Group is proud to announce the launch of an innovative Low Carbon Heating Apprenticeship course at Langley College. With a focus on preparing businesses for the future, this program is designed to equip the next generation with the skills needed to drive the transition towards a sustainable, low carbon future.

As the world moves towards net zero emissions, the demand for skilled professionals in renewable energy technologies is set to skyrocket. According to a report commissioned by the MCS Foundation, the UK will require 60,000 fully trained solar panel installers and 50,000 heat pump engineers by the mid-2030s. Meeting this demand calls for a significant influx of skilled workers, particularly among the 15-25 age group.

The new Low Carbon Heating Apprenticeship course at Langley College is poised to address this need head-on. By offering comprehensive training in a range of disciplines including heat pump installation, renewable heating systems, and solar thermal technology, the program will produce a new generation of skilled professionals ready to tackle the challenges of the green economy.

Course Overview: The Low Carbon Heating Apprenticeship course covers a wide range of skills essential for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of zero carbon central heating and hot water systems. From selecting and sizing components to diagnosing and repairing faults, apprentices will gain hands-on experience working with cutting-edge technologies such as Ground and Air Source Heat Pumps and Solar Thermal Collectors.

Apprentices will learn to work on both new build and existing properties, mastering the installation, service, and repair of zero carbon heating and hot water appliances, storage vessels, pipework, heat emitters, and associated components. Additionally, they will develop expertise in the mechanical and electrical control systems that form the backbone of sustainable heating solutions.

Windsor Forest Colleges Group is committed to empowering the workforce of tomorrow with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. The Low Carbon Heating Apprenticeship course at Langley College represents a vital step towards building a sustainable future for generations to come.
