Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce (TVCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to the timely delivery of the Western Rail Link to Heathrow (WRLtH), a vital infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity to one of the world’s busiest airports.
This week significant backing was given for the WRLtH scheme, which was the focus of a Westminster Hall debate. Strong support was expressed by Matt Rodda MP for Reading Central and Clive Jones MP for Wokingham, highlighting the critical importance of the project to the region and the nation.
The Chamber played a pivotal role in advocating for the WRLtH during the first All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) meeting of the new Parliament, held on Wednesday. The Chamber congratulates Tan Dhesi MP for Slough on his re-election as Chair of the WRLtH APPG, recognizing his role in leading cross-party support for this initiative.
The Thames Valley Chamber’s WRLtH sub-group continues to work diligently with its members to devise business-driven solutions to source the investment for the projects successful and timely delivery. The Chamber’s dedication over the years to this project is to ensure our communities benefit from better rail connectivity to Heathrow.
Paul Britton, Chief Executive, TVCC said: “We won’t stop lobbying for this, as the Western Rail Link to Heathrow is a game-changer for businesses and communities in our region but also for Chamber communities across the South-West and beyond.
We are working with MPs to bring the merits of the project to parliament. Better connectivity to Heathrow from the West will help address some of the flashing indicators for our regional and national competitiveness, reduce car travel and costs, and unlock massive additional investment too”.
The Chamber will continue its active engagement with key stakeholders to secure progress on the WRLtH scheme, ensuring it remains a top priority in regional and national infrastructure thinking.
