BNU to collaborate with Milton Keynes manufacturer Adam Equipment in new Knowledge Transfer Partnership

Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) is pleased to announce a new Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Milton Keynes-based Adam Equipment, a prominent UK manufacturer of measurement equipment and laboratory scales.

Funding was successfully secured in a joint bid by the University’s School of Creative and Digital Industries and School of Art, Design and Performance in November, and was highlighted in the latest round of successful applications by Innovate UK.

KTPs are strategic partnerships that support businesses to innovate and grow. A KTP starts with a business’s vision to innovate and diversify its products or services, or develop new and improved ways of working. By collaborating with a university through a KTP, businesses will access expert knowledge from academic teams, and funding from Innovate UK enables the business to recruit a highly-skilled individual who is dedicated to delivering a specific, strategic, innovation project for the business.

With a budget of £300,000, the 30-month project with Adam Equipment aims to develop cutting-edge digitisation and cloud-based production processes and best practices for Adam Equipment with the help of BNU academics.

Dr Benjamin Aziz, Associate Professor in Software Engineering at BNU, said: “The core objective is to modernise the current production line for some of the company’s flagship products.

“This KTP will leverage the technical research knowledge and project management skills of the university’s Computing, AI, and Design researchers, transferring these capabilities to the industrial domain.”

The research team will be led by Dr. Aziz, with Dr. Estabraq Makiyah, Lecturer in Computer Systems and Networks, and Scott Harper, Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Product/Furniture Design, serving as project supervisors.
