Within just a year of recent AI technology releases, such as ChatGPT, business professionals, students, and creatives have enthusiastically embraced these tools to boost productivity and reduce time to market. Very large sets of data have been with us for several years with companies using data analytics and data mining to extract insights in areas as diverse as mineral prospecting, online retailing and political campaigning.
The combination of AI and big data analytics promises even greater improvements in quality and productivity. One can easily imagine how smart AI algorithms working on big health datasets (e.g. from the Our Future Health initiative) could revolutionise how we diagnose disease.
However, these advancements are accompanied by ethical and legal risks. Many datasets contain personal data captured from activities like filling out online insurance forms or using fitness tracking devices. What constitutes ‘fair’ use of this data, and what is inappropriate or even ethical? If I use an AI tool to create new music, do I need to worry about copyright infringement?
We are thrilled to invite you to join our eminent panel to discuss these and many other issues:
- Dr. David Tarrant, Senior Learning Advisor, Open Data Institute
- Stuart Munton, Chief for Group Operations & Technology, AND Digital
- Dr. Mininder Sethi, Associate Professor of Finance, Henley Business School
Following initial insights from each panellist, we will engage in a general roundtable discussion. There will be ample time for networking before and after the event. We would like to recognise and thank our Partner and host for this event, KPMG for the use of their offices and for sponsoring the refreshments.
Standard tickets are priced at £10, with all funds raised going to support Ethical Reading.
However, as a token of our appreciation for our valued partners and supporters, we are offering complimentary tickets to employees of our Partner organisations. If you are an employee of one of our Partners, please contact Joanna at joanna@ethicalreading.org.uk and mention your company to receive a promotion code for a free ticket.
